I live in a house of doodlers. Three of the four kids in the house draw and color like crazy, and often they create these whole scenes of images that are involved complicated. What I love the most about them is that they are uninhibited, totally and completely. They’re not concerned with how someone else is going to think they look. Whether the dog looks right or the eyes are even or the colors go.
So the other day I was doodling…
…and Seven came along to do the same. Seven is the most prolific of all of the doodlers in the house, and he’ll often opt for drawing over television, playing outside and even video games. He’s committed, is what I’m saying.
I sat and watched him draw, his pen fluid. He didn’t second guess himself. And the only time he paused was when he stopped to consider whether to add more figures to the drawing.
Seriously, I want to be like him when I grow up. I think we all should. Unfettered by the world and its observations and rules — just unadulterated enjoyment of the process of creation itself.
Let’s all be like Seven and see where it takes us!
